Coffee cessation success?

October 7, 2010 2 comments

“How many cups of coffee do you drink in a day?”

I’ve been asked this question almost as many times as I’ve been asked, “What the heck is wrong with you?”

Back to question one. Did you mean the unit of measurement, or how many times do I refill this giant mug?

The answer, either way, is a lot. A lot.

Well, a lot until 40 days ago, anyway. Quit cold turkey and I’m still gobbling/shivering.

A gift from a co-worker during one of my previous breaks from coffee, circa April 2009.

I’ve done this before. In fact, I used to go off the sauce for roughly one month per quarter, just to prove I could.

This time was a little more random, though. And despite the fact that quitting wasn’t my goal, I could probably keep going, footloose and coffee-free.

But I won’t.

So, two questions (not the ones from above, especially not the second one):

1) Have your attempts at coffee cessation succeeded?

2) Who wants to go have coffee with me when I jump back in?
